Description of Research and Teaching
Dr. Wang joined Shandong University in 1991. She has a PhD in medicine. She was appointed as the Dean of school since June 2016.
Throughout her career, Dr. Wang’s research has focused on health care for elderly, especially looking after care quality, care needs. She also worked on health behavior & health education and management of chronic conditions (e.g. Urinary Incontinence, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and Diabetes). In collaboration with Dr. Mary H. Palmer UNC@ Chapel Hill, USA, she developed and tested the Toileting Behaviors – Women’s Elimination Behaviors Scale (TB-WEB) to quantify behaviors women use for urinary elimination and to identify behaviors that could compromise bladder health. The TB-WEB has been translated into multiple languages (e.g. English, Swedish and Chinese). She is the principle investigator or co-investigator of more than 10 projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation, Ministry of Education, and other funding agencies. She published more than 100 papers, including 20 publications on high quality academic journals in English (e.g. International Journal of Nursing Studies, Journal of the American Medical Directors).
She teaches the Fundamentals of Nursing, Health Education, and Evidence-Based Nursing. She is the director of the national-level quality and online course “Fundamentals of Nursing”. Her teaching project, titled “Innovative Flipped Classroom Model of Fundamentals of Nursing based on Informatics”, has received the first-class Outstanding Teaching Award from Shandong Province.

Longitudinal changes in COPD symptom clusters and prediction of acute exacerbation
The goal of this study is to assess the most common symptoms in patients with COPD, explore the classification of symptom clusters, and establish the prediction model of COPD symptom clusters for acute exacerbation of COPD.

Effects of cognitive behavioral intervention on overactive bladder in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
The goal of this study is to identify the prevalence of overactive bladder, investigate the association between toileting behaviors and overactive bladder, and examine effects of an education program targeting toileting behaviors on bladder symptoms and quality of life in patients with type 2 diabetes.
